A.     MEMBERSHIP:

1.      The majority of members present at a scheduled meeting must approve application for membership. New members will serve a probationary period the first year of membership and must be re-affirmed by the majority of membership at the first meeting after the hunting season ends. All prospective members must be given a copy of the by-laws and complete a membership application prior to membership approval.

2.   Active members in good standing, who attain age 65 during calendar year with at least 10 consecutive years of paid membership will become honorary members and will no longer be required to pay dues. Members with less than 10 consecutive years of membership, who reach age 65 will continue to pay regular membership dues until 10 consecutive years has been attained.

3.      Adult membership: A person who does not qualify for junior membership.

4.      Junior (High School) membership: dependents living in the same household as active adult members, commencing at age 12 and terminating upon completion or leave of high school.

5.      Junior (College) membership: a full time student attending a four (4) year college.

6.      All paid adult members have the right to take their children on small game hunts on the club property.

7.      The club membership shall be limited to thirty-five (35) adult members (excludes honorary and junior members). The number of members cannot be changed for five (5) years.  (Last change of membership January, 2000)

8.      New members will be allowed to join the club at any time during a calendar year. Dues are payable 30 days after approval as new members.

9.      Members leaving the club will not be eligible for membership until after they have sat out for a period of one (1) year - Exception: (this excludes an absence due to medical reasons). Members leaving the club cannot hunt as guests for a period of one year - Exception: (unless he moves his home in excess of 100 miles from the club grounds).

10.  Members are required to provide the secretary and/or treasurer with name, address, phone number and social security number.

11.  All members regardless of joining date are required to fulfill the requirements of membership, IE: fall workdays. (Minimum work day requirements must be satisfied or fines will be assessed)

12.  When a potential member is being voted on for membership at a scheduled meeting, the potential members sponsor must be present at the meeting or contact the president prior to the meeting to act as a representative for the potential member.

 

B.     DUES:

1.      Adult membership: $325.00 per year.

            New members will be assessed a one time $25.00 initiation fee.

2.      Junior (High School) membership: $40.00 per year.

3.      Junior (College) membership: $50.00 per year.

 

 

C.  PAYMENT OF DUES:

1.      Dues must be paid no later than the 31st of March each year.

2.      Dues not paid by that time will terminate the membership but, membership can be reinstated after paying an additional twenty-five ($25.00) dollars within 30 days after becoming delinquent. Dues and/or late fees not paid by April 30th will terminate club membership.

3.      No refunds of club dues to any member unless the Club is completely disbanded or there are extenuating circumstances that warrant the refund. Club funds will be equally divided among all active and honorary members if the club is disbanded.

4.      Members wishing to dropout of the Club may do so at any time but without any refund or adjustment.

5.      Payment of individual members’ dues will not be accepted if there are outstanding or unpaid fines by that member due the club.

 

D. GUESTS:

 

1.      A guest will be allowed to hunt on Club grounds one day only during either Bow or Blackpowder seasons.

2.      No guests will be allowed on the first day of the deer-hunting season.

3.      No guests will be allowed on the last day of the deer-hunting season.

4.      Guest’s visits will be limited to five (5) visits per deer season at twenty ($20.00) per visit.

5.      Three (3) visits may be on Saturday, the balance of visits must be a weekday.

6.      There will be no guests under the age of sixteen (16) on a stand by themselves.

7.      Guests may hunt small game after Deer season at the normal $20.00 daily rate.

8.      Members may bring only two (2) guests each on any scheduled hunt day.

9.      Guests serving active military duty shall have their guest fees waived.

 

E.      SAFETY:

1.      Members will practice all gun and hunting safety rules while on club property.

2.      No loading or shooting of guns will be allowed within the immediate vicinity

(300 feet, 100 yards. radius) of the Clubhouse unless designated as a stand by the Hunt Master.

3.      Members will abide by all Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Laws while on Club property.

4.      No guns will be allowed in the Club House between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

5.      Hunters must stay on their assigned stand during a scheduled deer hunt until the horn is sounded or the hunt is announced done via the radio by the driver(s). See Scheduled Deer Hunts for additional information.

6.      Use of tree stands or tower stands is at hunters’ discretion.

7.      No slugs may be used during scheduled deer hunts  however, slugs may be used

            AFTER the last drive from ELEVATED STANDS ONLY and MUST BE USED

            WITH DISCRETION!

8.      Members choosing to Bow or Blackpowder hunt MUST always use the membership board to mark their presence on Club property so as to inform others of their whereabouts.

 

F.      RESPECT FOR PROPERTY:

1.      Any matters that are the concern of the property owner shall be brought to the attention of the Club officers immediately.

2.      Respect for property will be adhered to at all times, i.e.: no fires, damaging of trees etc.

3.      Keep Club grounds clean by picking up litter. Littering will not be tolerated.

4.      Members should not spin tires or damage roadway surfaces. The hunter driving the vehicle will repair damage by hunters’ vehicles.

 

G.    SCHEDULED DEER HUNTS:

1.      Scheduled weekday deer hunts will begin at 7:30 a.m., Saturday 6:30 a.m.

2.      A Hunt Master must control each deer hunt.

3.      All club members are eligible to serve as Hunt Master.

4.      Individual hunting during scheduled deer hunts will not be allowed.

5.      Each member present will draw a stand (unless driving dogs) and place stand number by their name on the membership board prior to leaving for stand.

6.      Hunters must stay on their assigned stand during a scheduled deer hunt until the horn is sounded, or the driver(s) have called the hunt done via radio, in which hunters must return to the Club House.

7.      Should a member become sick and need to leave his stand before the hunt is over, he should notify the member on the next stand, if at all possible.

8.      Deer, fox, and turkey (if in season) are considered legal shots. A miss on a legal shot will cost the shooter one ($1.00) dollar per miss with a maximum of two ($2.00) daily.

9.      A fine of two ($2.00) dollars will be imposed on anyone small game hunting during a scheduled deer hunt.

10.  All hunters are to be at the Club House for the morning hunt NO LATER THAN 7:15 a.m. Hunters arriving after 7:15 a.m. will be assigned a stand by the Hunt Master. Saturday’s morning hunt will be drawn at 6:30 a.m.

11.  The Hunt Master will assign someone to put dogs back in their pens after a scheduled hunt.

12.  Abuse of Club dogs should be reported to any officer present, so that appropriate action can be taken.

13.  Dog drivers may shoot with no fine being assessed.

14.  1st driver picks 3rd, 2nd driver picks 1st and 3rd driver picks 2nd.

 

 

H.   DRAWING FOR MEAT:

1.  All Club members, paying and military guests are entitled to draw for meat, provided they were part of the hunting party and have not left the club grounds to go home.

  1. The hunter tagging the deer has his choice of meat, (hindquarter or 1/2 of the tenderloin) plus a draw.
 

I.    SMALL GAME HUNTING:

  1. Small game hunting is allowed only when there is no deer hunting in progress.     
  2. Small game hunting is allowed following the p.m. hunt.
  3. Members hunting small game must not infringe on members who are bow or Blackpowder hunting.

 

J.      MEETINGS AND EXECUTIVE ACTION:

1.      The Club must hold a minimum of two (2) meetings each hunting year.

2.      The President will schedule all meetings and the Secretary will notify all members in advance of the meeting date and time.

 

K.    BYLAWS:

1.      The Bylaws can be changed only at a scheduled meeting and upon approval of the majority of the membership present.

2.      Violations of Club Bylaws or Federal, State or Local game laws shall be brought to the attention of the acting officers of the club immediately. Disciplinary action can result in termination of Club membership without refund and criminal prosecution to the fullest extent of the law as provided by the Statutes of the State of Virginia.

3.      Officers will jointly decide on disciplinary actions to be taken.

 

L.     VEHICLES:

  1. Vehicles are not to block entrances or exits to the Clubhouse.
  2. No vehicles are to be parked in front of the trailer.
  3. Members should not spin tires or damage roadway surfaces. Damage by members’ vehicles will be repaired by the member driving vehicle.

 

M.  FALL WORKDAYS:

  1. Each member of the Club must perform a minimum of sixteen (16) hours of work detail each year to remain a member in good standing.
  2. Each junior member must perform eight (8) hours of work detail each year.
  3. A fifty ($50.00) dollar fine will be assessed for each missed work day (8 hours), fines are due and payable prior to hunting the first time of the new season and will carry over to the next season if not paid, which can affect membership eligibility.
  4. Must work a minimum of four (4) hours each day.
  5. The President, as needed if warranted, may call extra workdays.
  6. Members on club grounds during scheduled work days should be working and not engaged in personal activities. IE; Sighting in guns, scouting, skeet shooting, etc.

 

N.    DOG PEN DUTY:

  1. Each member of the Club, regardless of office, shall clean the dog pens at least once each year. Exception: Dog food purchaser will be excused.
  2. A fine of fifty ($50.00) dollars (due and payable prior to first hunt) will be assessed for failure to clean the dog pens on member’s appointed day. A member may have someone do his detail for him, but it is his responsibility to find a replacement.
  3. A member who misses dog pen detail two (2) times consecutively will have his club membership terminated without refund.
  4. Dog droppings are to be raked up and placed into the pile as established by the President/Vice president.
  5. Water troughs are to be cleaned, emptied and refilled with at least fifteen (15) gallons of fresh water.
  6. Lime should be put in pens after cleaning to sweeten the soil and toughen the dogs’ feet.
  7. Sevin dust will be placed in each dog box after each cleaning to keep ticks, fleas and mange mites from dogs.
  8. Members who notice lime, sevin dust or other needed materials are in short supply shall notify the President or Vice president to make arrangements for replacement supplies, prior to running completely out.
  9. Members who observe a dog or pen of dogs that need medical treatment for any reason shall notify the President or Vice president so that arrangements can be made to correct the matter.
  10. All dogs will be dipped twice each year. 1 dipping shall consist of 2 treatments 2 weeks apart. The first dipping should be completed by May 31st.  The 2nd shall be completed by the 30th of September each year.
